Hi folks! I have about a million things to do before I leave on Tuesday morning for Wednesday’s Yale interview, and it’s 1:11am on Sunday night, so I’ll just make this as quick as humanly possible.
Have you ever noticed there are a lot of actors you can’t identify by name, or perhaps even by a major movie or work they’ve been in, but who look so familiar? I can imagine that would be an odd state of limbo for a person to be in: famous enough to get stopped by folks on the street, but not famous enough to have people pick up the tabloids if your name is in there. In fact, that may not be such a bad thing 🙂
Anyway, for me, Windell Middlebrooks is that guy. You may know him as the Miller High Life guy who hates expensive hamburgers and resembles a darker version (but no more or less jive-talkin’) than Dusty Rhodes (who we’ve profiled before) as a gas station attendant. You may know him as “that guy from The Bernie Mac Show,” or perhaps from the one episode he did on Veronica Mars, or My Name is Earl, or Hannah Montana, or Entourage, or ER, or Parks & Rec. Or perhaps he’s the guy you recognize from his recurring, but non-starring, roles in The Bernie Mac Show, or Scrubs, or It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, or Body of Proof, or (bugle sound)… Cougar Town! alongside Busy Philipps! You’d think that’s too much awesomely-expressive face for one show. But you’d be wrong!
The point is, no matter whether you’re a believer in premium cable or network TV, a fan of teenie-bopper shows, adult fare, comedy, drama, or Super Bowl ads, you’ve probably seen this guy, and you probably like him.
At age 34, Windell has been around for a while, and he has the credentials to boot! The Fort Worth, Texas native graduated from Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas, and earned his MFA in acting at UC Irvine back in 2004. Not too shabby, Windell. Not too shabby at all!
As for me, I can’t wait to see more of him on Cougar Town (don’t spoil it for me if you know what happens in later seasons or if he makes recurring appearances… just tease me gently!) and everywhere, because… well, just look at that face!
P.S. It’s 1:26 now, and the post is done – pics uploaded, links added and everything. 15 minutes… a new record! … now that’s what I call living the high life!
