Funny Names in the News…in the News!

Hello FNITN fans!

This week we welcomed another wonderful blogger to our growing ranks, the lovely and delicious Liz from the fun and foody Food for Fun blog. Not only was her post about the incomparable Crescent Dragonwagon an absolute cracker of a success, it was even noticed by Ms. Dragonwagon herself!

She looks so nice, AND she's a BOFN fan! What a lady!

Yesterday, upon discovering Liz’s marvelous blog post about her, she went ahead and shared it on her Facebook wall for all the world to see! Hooray for success! Viva la Blog of Funny Names! Not only that, we have it on good authority that Ms. Dragonwagon even shared some of her famous cornbread recipes with Liz. Cornbread! That’s the epitome of country kindness right there.

Personally, I haven’t been enjoying cornbread this week, as I’ve been downed by the flu. Hooray! It’s a shame I missed this piece on flu prevention by Dr. Randy Shuck, as it might have helped me dodge the illness. Aw, shucks.

My flu-related hallucinations were not helped by encountering a man named Joop Munsterman in the news last week. Joop Munsterman, though, what a name.

Upon reading the news the other day, I suddenly realized that Angela Merkel is kind of a funny name. Merkel, Merkel, Merkel, Merkel. Yeah, give me a break here, I’m sick and still hallucinating Munsterman attacks.

Richard Garlick wouldn't be out of place in one of Crescent Dragonwagon's cookbooks.

The Olympics will be set in Russia next year, and human rights groups are preparing to take actions to make sure that migrant workers are not abused. But worry not, Human Rights Watch has a top official named Minky Worden to make sure that isn’t a problem. Yes, Minky. A noble cause.

And to wrap up with sports (of course), English soccer team West Bromwich Albion has a sporting director named Richard Garlick, and he’s been using his killer breath to convince wayward striker Peter Odemwingie to calm down and stay put at the team, rather than drive down a few hundred miles to another team’s stadium only to not be allowed in and left to simmer in the parking lot. Which isn’t smart. But hey, at least they have probably the fanciest sounding sports team name in the world.

And with that, we bid you happy weekend. Stay healthy, funny name enthusiasts!

Thanks Liz! Everyone at my work has taken turns being sick so it was unavoidable. Gave me the chance to spend time scouring the internet finding funny names at least 🙂
