Happy Friday morning everyone. Dave asked me to fill in for him this week. And bless his buttons, he contributed most of the news.
If you haven’t heard, Nelson Mandela passed away yesterday at the age of 95. What a life. As a tribute started earlier this year, fabulously named comedian, Eddie Izzard, has set out to run 27 marathons in 27 days in South Africa. During his runs, he will be filming a documentary about Mandela’s life and interviewing the people who knew him. Would you believe it’s call “Eddie Izzard’s Mandela Marathons”? Good luck Mr. Izzard.
Our relationship correspondent, Dave, contributed this gem. Octogenarian, Enid Shapiro dishes her advice on relationships. She was married for sixty years until the passing of her husband four plus years ago. She said, “I wouldn’t want to get married again, but I wouldn’t object to having a relationship. I mean, why not? I want to share meaningful life experiences with someone else. I’d love to have a boyfriend, and I think I could be a very good girlfriend.” You go girl!
From animal mixologist correspondent, Dave, first we discovered that Dubai has a Camel Reproductive Center, you read that right. Then we find out they are breeding a cross between camels and llamas creating the cutest Camas. Don’t you just want to hug them.
But that’s not why he brought us this news. If you scroll down farther in the article, you’ll discover wonderfully named, Leendert Saarloos of the Netherlands decided to bring us a domesticated, uber intelligent wolf, but as a trainable dog, and immune to distemper.
He came up with the Saarloos wolfhound, a new breed the maintains the looks and size and most of the characteristics of the wolf. They weigh up to a cuddly 100 pounds. Would you believe they are strong willed, but completely tame? They are also accomplished escape artists. Sorry folks, they are only available in the Netherlands.
Our mad scientist correspondent, Dave, found this one, under the category of “The Six Most Badass Stunts Ever Pulled in the Name of Science“. I cannot bring myself to mention what they are, other than Stubbin Ffirth did something you have to read to believe. If you have a delicate stomach, do not click the link. Then there was Werner Forssmann who decided to learn about the heart by probing his own. Nuf said. *Where did I put the Listerine.*
Okay, I’m back. Moving on to something more palatable, Basketball correspondent Dave’s mention of chocolate might make this item more to your tastes. Former NBA star Jason “White Chocolate” Williams has a wife named Denika Kisty. I wonder if Hershey’s has an answer for that?
Now that Thanksgiving has passed Dave pointed out we can listen to the song Stone Soul Christmas by Binky Griptite.
Love the funk and soul. Just don’t try to take my Binky away.
Made-Man correspondent, Dave, brings us this beauty of a story on Mafioso mystique, codes of silence, and distinct nicknames. From Jake ‘Greasy Thumb” Guzik to Jack “Legs” Diamond and his Hotsy Totsy Club. “Legs” was shot in three separate incidents and survived. Earning him the moniker “Clay Pigeon.” Perhaps not the best choice of a nickname, as he was shot outside his home after bragging, “They can’t kill Legs Diamond.” Perhaps there’s a reason DeBeers doesn’t sell diamonds with legs? Just a thought.
I think this speaks for itself. As our Boxing correspondent, Dave says in his own words, “Here’s a picture of an awesome response to a wrong number text. Gives us the chance to talk about George Foreman’s kids’ names.”

2. Michi Foreman
3. Leona Foreman
4. Freeda George Foreman
5. George Edward Foreman Jr
6. George Edward Foreman III
7. George Edward Foreman IV
8. George Edward Foreman V
9. George Edward Foreman VI
10. Georgetta Foreman
“. . . Fannie’s Friday fill-in is funky, freaky, fabulous . . .”
“. . . Fannie and Fridays were meant for each other: it’s a match made in heaven! Wait, scratch that, cause that octogenarian lady and everything. OK, a serially monogamous relationship made in heaven? Or wherever. Or whatever! . . .”
“. . . Boxing? Geeky science? Camel fertility clinics? . . . Fannie’s channelling of Dave is uncanny . . . it’s like he’s standing right next to her!”
I kind of like that I’ll now be forever linked to camel fertility clinics. Life is good, and nobody can tell me otherwise!
You have skills, Dave, don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. 😉
Dave, you put the hump in camels!
eeek!
Well, I was just kind of picturing the sign on the door.

Wdydfae–I love how you’re able to riff in the comments. I wish I had your commenting skills!
Easier than it looks! I explained my blurb algorithm to Amb once, but I can’t remember where.
I’ll see if I can find it!
I tracked it down for you, Fannie! This post’s comment thread:
http://whatdoyoudoforanencore.wordpress.com/2013/06/29/noriko-to-norio-kyary-pamyu-pamyu/#comments
Actually, that thread contained the first Amblurb, that began the whole absurd process.
Thank you for the link! I wondered how that all started.
three cheers for Fannie’s FNitN debut 🙂 (and for diddy’s review on said debut) That couldn’t have been easy, Tracy, but you pulled it off triumphantly! Love how BoFN is mixing it up.
Haha, it’s always good to mix things up. I think we did miss a chance for a “Fan-NITN” pun though. 🙂
How did I not notice that? Well punned Dave!
Nice one, Dave!
Liz-thank you! I’ll say it was a challenge, but very fun.
Reblogged this on Fannie Cranium's and commented:
In case you need a does of funny names for the weekend. Enjoy.
Lovely roundup, AND the 400th post in the history of the Blog of Funny Names! Pretty fancy!
Well done Fannie, keepin’ it fresh and managing to juggle Dave’s 87 links this week. Whoop!
Half of those were carried over from last week, to be fair! You’re the reason Fannie had to write “Dave” so often 🙂
Woo Hoo! 400th post, that’s quite something.
Thanks Arto!
Fannie !!! Look at you, tackling FNITN all on your own! You’re a braver woman than I! And PS, can I hire you to write all of the job titles for my resume? You have a gift, my friend 😉
I can’t take credit for the whole title. Dave made it the extravaganza. But I’ll bet we could have some fun together with those job titles. 😀
Fannie’s on Fire! That was almost an overwhelming amount of FN’s and info!
Thanks L. Yes, it was a posting P.R. last week. 😉
Just saw this post again… love it! I had totally forgotten about that George Foreman text stream, but it’s totally awesome! Always fun to look back in the vault and find some forgotten treasures!
